Resident Evil Village

The Resident Evil series has always relied on a balance between action and horror, but with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, the series changed course and embraced a more action-heavy gameplay style. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard was a great success and the change of pace was well-received by players. This year, Capcom is following up on this success with Resident Evil Village, which is both a sequel to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and a return to the classic Resident Evil gameplay style. Resident Evil Village, like its predecessor, is set in a remote Eastern European village, and the player takes the role of Ethan Winters, who has to find his daughter.

Gameplay

The gameplay of Resident Evil Village is very similar to its predecessor, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. However, Resident Evil Village has adopted a more action-heavy gameplay style. The inventory management mechanic is very similar to that of Resident Evil 4, featuring a briefcase and the ability to move and rotate items for better storage space. Players can buy supplies, weapons, items from a merchant, called the Duke.

The players can also hunt animals in the village and have them cooked into dishes by the Duke. Eating side dishes allows the player to gain certain advantages such as decreasing the damage taken while blocking. Players can manually save the game progress by locating and using typewriters, which replaces the tape recorders seen in Resident Evil 7. Similar to Resident Evil 3 (2020), Resident Evil Village will include a six-player online multiplayer game, Resident Evil RE:Verse, which was delayed until summer 2021. The Mercenaries Mode also makes a returning appearance in Resident Evil Village. Like its previous Resident Evil entries, it is an arcade-style game mode.

The graphics in Resident Evil Village are roughly the same as its predecessor, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Like its predecessor, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil Village features a first-person perspective, and it is set in a snowy explorable Eastern European village.
